Fall 2009 Golf Season Recap
The Hawks golf team finished the 2009 fall season with an 11th place finish in the National Championship Preview. The event was played at Hampton Cove Golf Club in Huntsville, AL. As was the case with most of the fall tournaments, the event was played under very wet and rainy conditions. Coach Clint Wright was pleased with the team’s play as a whole and very proud of the play of Mike Kerns who finished 8th overall with event rounds 70-74 =144 (even par). Mike’s play along with a good finish against the best teams in the country will move the Hawks into the spring season with a very positive attitude about our team and our chances of a great spring season.
Overall Coach Wright has achieved his goals for the fall. Coach Wright commented, “We played 11 different players with 5 different combinations of teams this fall. This gave me a chance to see all of our players in competition. The goal of our program is to help our team members to improve in the fall in order to be ready for the spring season.” The team is looking forward to the start of the spring season in February with a run at winning Regional, District and National Championships.
