Hawks Soccer Soars to New Heights in '08

November 2, 2008 - In only their second season of competition at the NJCAA Division 1 level, the TCTC men’s soccer team took runner-up in the Region 10 conference tournament. The conference championship was determined by penalty kicks after Tri-County and Cape Fear played to a 1-1 tie through regulation and double overtime. In the hard-fought battle for the championship it took seven penalty kicks to determine the winner. (more)

Men’s Golf - Hawks Finish Fall Season

Oct. 17, 2008 - The TCTC Hawks golf team finished up the fall season by finishing eighth out of thirteen teams at the Coker College Invitational. The Hawks had two top five finishes in tournamnet play this fall and scores were excellent. The team was lead by freshman John Henderson who had a stroke average of 74.9 for 18 competitive rounds played. He was followed by sophomore Nick Williams with 75.8, sophomore Brett Wyman with 77.4, freshman Richard Allen with 78.7 and freshman Brent Abercrombie with 79.3. There were several other players who had an excellent fall season as well and the competition for playing time looks very close for the upcoming spring season. Playing against four year scholarship teams in tournaments can be tough, but of the 2 year programs that competed in the same tournaments, the Hawks were topped by only two of those programs. In stroke average, TCTC is third in the region behind Cape Fear CC and Spartanburg Methodist College. We look foward to spring season with the NJCAA Region X and District tournaments on the schedule that will show how our tough fall schedule has prepared the team to compete with other NJCAA level colleges.
